Just finished Force Unleashed for the first time (Jedi path). Damn, sir, DAMN.

What a fine game, and a far better service to the fiction than some of what's been pumped out of the house of Lucas in the last decade. My favorite and most authentic feeling Star Wars game since the original Dark Forces.

Please keep it up, I hear that Force2 is looking spectacular, and after this, it will just have to be a day one purchase.

This is a really fascinating read! Thanks for writing up the steps of your creative process. I used to write comic book reviews for SFist (http://mattbaume.com/writing/reviews/comic-books/) and it's fascinating to see how a comic comes together from the production-side, rather than just from the reviewer-side.

I agree that Borderlands executed its visual language well. And I think what was even more important than the visual language on static and dynamic objects was the use of clear iconography in the world to guide the player. With even a large number of accepted quests in the mid to late game, I always knew where to go, what to do, thanks to the quest, map, and in-HUD indications of my mission objectives.

But what impressed me just as much was the execution of Diablo-style loot system with a near-perfect ratio of complexity to gameplay value.

This link (http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/6207/borderlands200911012208.jpg) is a screenshot of a mid-level, weapon. As much info as Borderlands packs into the weapon display, it struck me as just enough variation to produce a lot of ramping acquisition gameplay, but nothing about what it can do is unclear. And the clear display of the weapon value always provided me with a good basic sense of the designer's opinion of equipment value.

The principle of RPGs: Numbers go up. Profit.

I hope you bring back duel mode for the Wii!

Also, a game from 1998 worth hunting down: Bushido Blade.
Seriously, look it up, it would make for the greatest Star Wars game ever if you had dueling using those mechanics.

(Dead serious here, if you can't find it I will personally hunt it and a PS1 down and mail it to you)

I just hope it pays the original game justice. The resurrection of Starkiller must absolutely match the glory of his death.

And I would most definitely get a kick out of playing Vader again :P.
