DC recently ran a series of interviews with the creators working on titles with supernatural and/or horror themes on the official blog, the Source. Since Batwoman is dealing with the ghostly Weeping Woman in the first arc, and we’ve often described the book as a “vigilante comic with supernatural overtones,” Jim and I were fortunate enough to be included in the interviews. Darth Vader & The Ghost Prison!

My next Star Wars series will be officially announced at NYCC this week, but you can get some early information about Darth Vader & The Ghost Prison over at Newsarama, where they’ve posted an interview about the project.

The short pitch is this: “Darth Vader and The Ghost Prison tells the story of one of the earliest attempts to assassinate the Emperor, and the lengths that Darth Vader, Moff Trachta, and a young, eager lieutenant will go to in order to protect Palpatine.”

I’m really excited about the project because it’s the first time I’ve been able to write a Star Wars story from mostly a first-person perspective — the series is essentially narrated by the lieutenant, who has just graduated from the Academy and is caught up in a violent coup attempt.

Batwoman Featured on Today.Com & EW’s Shelf Life

Batwoman #1 On Sale This Week!

Darth Vader Enters the Ghost Nebula Tomorrow

The first issue of the five-issue Darth Vader & The Lost Command comes out tomorrow. You can find out a bit more about the series in a blog post I did for Dark Horse where I talk about my vision of Vader and address the whole issue of whether or not Vader should be able to “fail,” and in an interview over at Newsarama that gives some details on the story and what it’s been liking writing it while founding Fearless Studios. The comic should be available at Blue Moon Comics and other fine comic shops, or you can order it from Things from Another World. Hope anyone who picks up the first issue enjoys it!

TFUII GamePro On Stands

The June issue of GamePro featuring a cover story on The Force Unleashed II hits stands on May 4th (Star Wars Day!). The article includes new concept art and screenshots, a fair bit of detail about the story, and info on some of the game’s locations, powers, improvements, and enemies.

Batwoman & SW: Purge Updates!

Last week DC announced that I’ll be co-writing the Batwoman ongoing series with J.H. Williams III, who’ll also be doing the art for the first arc. Jim and I will continue writing the series with Amy Reeder Hadley (Madame Xanadu) taking over art for the second arc.

The announcement of an ongoing Batwoman series has been picked up by a diverse number of outlets ranging from IGN to Change.Org, Comi Girl, and even the New York Times. A few days after the initial announcement, Jim and I did an interview with First Comic News discussing some of our upcoming plans. Not much more we can reveal yet, but tonight I spent 60 minutes on the phone with Jim talking about our new villains, some visual themes we want to explore, Batwoman’s love life, how she’ll fit into Gotham City, her relationship to some of the other heroes in the DC Universe, and why she often grins when she’s about to get into a fight (among other things).

Meanwhile, a few more reviews for Star Wars: Purge — The Hidden Blade have hit, and the response to the story and art continues to be great. Comics Bulletin says:

“Purge is a fantastic one-shot that will no doubt appeal to Star Wars fans of all ages and, regardless of your investment to the universe that has captivated millions, will leave a smile on your face if even solely for the artwork.”
